The following statement can be attributed to Ticket Policy Forum Executive Director Brian Berry:
“A price cap on resale marketplaces is Ticketmaster’s dream bill that the company is lobbying for across the states and at the federal level. No one should be following the playbook of a company being sued by the U.S. Department of Justice and 40 states.
“We know from real world evidence in Ireland and Australia that legislation cannot throttle demand, that they do not lead to affordable tickets, and instead drive buying and selling off of protected marketplaces and fuel shadow market scams and fraud.
“Real reform means confronting the abusive monopoly that withholds roughly 90 percent of tickets from fans and controls about 80 percent of the primary ticketing market.”
