What We Stand For
Our Policy Principles:
If you buy tickets, you own them. Ticketholders should have the right to freely resell, transfer, or give away their tickets. This freedom is protected by law in 6 states (NY, IL, CT, VA, UT, CO). Restricting transfer of purchased tickets should not become policy.
Primary and secondary sellers should compete fairly under rules that apply equally, not under rules written to benefit Ticketmaster or any single segment or player in the system.
Fans deserve clear, honest information about what they’re buying, a ticket within constructive possession of the seller, or a pay-now-procure-later service. No more undisclosed speculative ticket sales, and no deceptive websites that pretend to be the venue or event organizer unless there is an official affiliation.
Government-imposed price controls sound good, but in reality they push resale into shadow markets where scams are rampant. Fans end up with less protection, not more. Also consider that if marketplaces choose to exit a local market, Ticketmaster will be the sole choice.
The BOTS Act should be enforced and primary sellers should support mandatory reporting bot attacks to enforcement agencies.
Venues shouldn’t punish fans and deny their entry just because their ticket was resold and purchased from a marketplace. Here’s why: that ticket was originally purchased and the box office was paid its full price.
